First and foremost, apologies for not updating more regularly on this trip. As it turns out, starting at 7am arriving back at 10pm leaves little time to write enjoyable blog posts. Nonetheless, let us persist.
Waking up inside the Legoland park at Billund was surreal to say the least. The normal sounds such as birds chirping and aeroplanes taking off could be heart, however, when I drew back my curtains, I found my window to be directly above a miniature Danish city. Which one, I'm disappointed to say that I could not tell you.
After a delicious Danish breakfast and the chance to reply to a couple of emails, it was time for an exclusive tour, before the gates opened. I snapped the first three shots below.
We then travelled the short distance to Lego House, built next to the very first factory and celebrating the creativity that the brand offers. We saw the genesis of this simple concept before a walk through the evolution and potential future for it. Lunch was made by mechanical robots and miniature chefs before re-boarding the tour bus to take us to Koldinghus Castle in Kolding. I snapped the fourth photograph as I left Lego House.
Koldinghus was built during the 13th century, however suffered several fires throughout its history - caused by cramped garrison conditions and rudimentary cooking and heating options. The subsequent renovation during the late 19th century has entirely incorporated original structures, and the rooms are stunning - with large portraits adorning the walls and ornate ceilings.
I've just finished the second full day of this trip and will aim to write it up tomorrow. Apologies if this piece of writing was a little rambling or repetitive: it's certainly time for bed!
